Thanks

Big thank you to Mssrs Straker and Munson for actually bringing some perspective to the crap that Primrodo & Co have been spouting. Having posted the lunatic ramblings of Primrodo, let me quote some of the more measured, reasonable and intelligent writings just to prove that the Replica Prop Forum is not just a haven for fuckmunchers. Indeed, the place is generally full of nice, intelligent people of which these two are good examples. They express their opinions far more maturely than I ever could and I appreciate their support.

From Mr Straker:

"Thing is guys, I can still understand his outrage. First thing that happens when someone posts shots of a prototype that he even admits isn't complete and even points out the details on his own work that is wrong and he gets it picked apart. I can understand picking apart a production piece that is actually one of what you would get if you bought the item, but what's the point of picking apart something that's not even done yet in prototype form when he even points out the inaccuracies himself? Some of the earliest comments in this thread didn't even have anything to do with the prop.

As for him not disclosing how he got the filming prop. He wasn't supposed to have it, so why would he tell everyone how, when or where he got it?

I've been emailing CT for nearly two years now since he first posted the coming soon thingie, and I've not made any assumptions of his work. I did something that many people on this thread never did, and that was to be polite and just ask him. He'd even given me stage update photos as he was working and those were from before we even got to see the SDCC prototype pictures. I have information as to how, when or where he got the original prop. Will I disclose it? No. Why? Well, he asked me to keep it to myself for a start but also because at this point it would so nothing to alleviate the situation on this thread anyway. No, really, many people who would read it would only scoff at me anyway and not believe it. would you? It would only be a few pages more to this thread before everyone mutually agrees that it isn't true despite lack of proof otherwise.

I noticed his sites blog pages make some very interesting comments about the new MFX sonic screwdriver. I have to say that those details are very compelling in terms of MFX's inaccuracies. He also addresses many of the comments made about the sonic like about the stripe on the side and i have to agree there. just because he didn't show it doesn't mean it isn't there. Just because he chose to display it partially open doesn't mean it doesn't close either otherwise what would the point be to make a replica of something that is supposed to close? *shrugs*

It's funny though that I was accused of being a sales rep once just for saying that bashing the model that was holding the Masters ring has nothing to do with the quality of the prop. It seems that by just defending the guys work made myself a target early in this thread as if I should just assume he's lying right off because he doesn't have the license. Since when does that ever mean he could never get a hold of the filming prop and get a ton of measurements off it? Thing is, I may not agree with his choice of words he used to color his sentences that were directed at Primrodo or Naked Mole Rat, but I can't blame him for being pissed considering the feeding frenzy this thread created against him here. It would be like if I was making a replica of something, and i had managed to get perfect measurements off a screen used prop I was going to duplicate but decided to not tell you guys how because it could get me and maybe the person or persons that allowed me access to said prop in deep ****, so everyone here called me a liar and picked apart my prototype for inaccuracies even though it was exact to the filming prop I had access to and was better than maybe an official one. I think I would be pretty pissed too. Just saying.

Despite peoples assurances that his words will hurt his business, this is one prop collector that will be buying his sonic. I like Steel better, it's stronger, heavier and on top of that, he is actually doing sound and no, it's not taken from the CO toy sonic. His board is rectangular, CO's is round. I may post some shots and my own review of it some time here, but I somehow expect that a thread about his sonic will still be peppered by peoples dislike of his sonic for this reason or that. Disappointing really.

Regardless, this thread has really moved pretty far off topic of the prop to the guys personal comments and a war between members here and CT and it really should be deleted."

And from Mr MattMunson:

"Gotta say, I'm kinda with Straker on this one. I mean, you guys on the RPF ARE sort of acting like a bunch of entitled cry babies. I mean, you tear this guys work apart before knowing anything about it, tell him his stuff is crap, and then you cry foul when he calls you on it. What did you expect? For him to come here and beg for your forgiveness for not doing it your way?? CST saw a bunch of online bullies trying to push him around, and he did what many parents tell their kids to do in such a situation: he pushed back.

He also makes an EXCELLENT point: none of you guys were going to buy the thing anyway. Check out the other thread. The one that lasted for a year or more? How many people in that thread were SALIVATING over the sonic, but ultimately chose not to buy one when the opportunity presented itself.

I think another thing to keep in mind is a comment that Steve D made on the RPF a while ago during one of his MR tell-alls. He said that out of a room full of hundreds of people he spoke to, only five or six posted on any of the LOUDLY complaining online forums. So of the two or three people on the RPF who have sworn to never purchase a thing from CTS, they are just a tiny fraction of the people who will be interested in this product.

The thing that truly sickens me, as a long standing member of this community, is how the age old axiom of "license infringing is wrong, until someone infringes on something I want to purchase for cheap" proves to be true time and time again. If there was ONE card anyone could have credibly played in this thread, it would be to cry foul over CTS producing sonics without a license. But no. Instead, people got upset because the lower cost item was not what they hoped it would be, and they didn't recieve the obligatory butt smooching from the vendor that they felt entitled too. Honestly folks, it's customers like you that make being in business un-fun.

My vote is that you keep in mind that your wallet speaks with a much louder voice than your keyboard. And besides that, you just make yourself look like a whiny baby when you post online rants.

See the irony?

I urge Primrodo & Co to read these two posts above and consider their past behaviour as if they hadn't acted like the wankers they have done, I would be sitting here, drinking tea and working on getting these screwdrivers out of the door.
